About Me

Mrs. Julie Torrez is a Sarasota native and teaches Language Arts to Grades 6-8.  She graduated from Florida State University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Art in English and Religion.  She completed a Master’s of Art in Teaching degree from the University of South Florida in Spring 2017 with a concentration in secondary English education.  She also holds an Associate’s degree in computer science from State College of Florida. 

Mrs. Torrez is certified in English (6-12) by the Florida Department of Education.  She is a member of both the Florida Council of Teachers of English as well as the National Council of Teachers of English.

In her spare time, Mrs. Torrez loves spending time with her husband, Ramiro, and their sons, Monkey (Ramiro) and Bear (Joaquin), as well as their three rescued dogs, Cholula, Gordie, and Ginny.
